Monday, March 22nd, 2004

Hey everybody!  We're down to the last week before the competition and the excitement is building.  This week we will be putting the final touches to our robot Limbo Larry.  We invite everybody to come see Larry in action this weekend at Dalhousie University in Halifax.

Finally things are getting back to normal in the multimedia department of the robotics team.  The server at the school is back up and we are able to put some more news on our webpage!  Over the past few months our new robot has come a long way.  From and idea scribbled on a blackboard to a fully functional radio controlled robot!  We have officially decided to stick with team Duct Tape as our name and our new robot will be called Limbo Larry.  Over the next few weeks we will be finishing construction and ironing out the minor wrinkles.  You can bet Larry will be ready to rumble by the time of the competition!!

Well, I guess we didn't get the site updated the next day now did we. it's been just one problem after another here at PDHS. First the server goes down, then we can't get into our files, but Robotics has been going strong. We've gotten a lot of work done and are almost ready for the competition, just gotta tinker a little bit. As for the pictures of the meetings, we'll do that later, we may be nearly done but there is still work to do. Here's to hoping that our design comes over everyone else's!!!

Hey Everybody! The conference call has come and gone and now we're in the design and construction process. It's time for the real fun to begin!! Today we came up with a basic outline for the frame and we will be meeting tomorrow to continue with design and construction. Special thanks to our first two sponsors, Windsor Salt and Archibald Morley, for your generous donations. Your support is very appreciated! That's all for now, hopefully some more updates tomorrow evening!!

Hey Everybody!  Today we received word that the conference call has once again been postponed.  It will now be Thursday at 3:30pm.  This should work out nicely as it will be after exams are over!!  This afternoon Brad and I added a section about our school (see link to the left) and also a page with some info on this years team (Team Duct Tape (2004)).  I have tentatively called us Team Duct Tape (2004), after last years name, as we have not decided on team or robot names yet.  We hope to see you all Thursday afternoon (we will probably meet at 3:00pm or before) in the metal shop and / or office!!

So....the conference call's cancelled again.  I guess they say third time's the charm so hopefully everything will go okay for Wednesday (4:30pm - meet after school).  We met after school today to discuss the competition and some design ideas.  Brad and I are planning to upload some pictures and a brief summary of the meeting tomorrow afternoon.  That's all for now!!

Hey Everybody! I hope you're all enjoying these lovely days off school we're having! = ) Just reminding everyone of the 2004 Robots East Teleconference coming up on Friday the 23rd at 5:00pm. All robotics members are expected to attend as we will be finding out what this year's challenge will be. Just 71 more days till the competition on March 26th!!! Quote from Brad --> "Finally things are starting to shape up, we've figured out who's doing what so we don't run around like headless chickens when it's time to really get started!" (After selecting individuals for chairman, secretary, head of design/construction, head of multimedia, conference speaker, and engineering report at our last meeting.)
